Which window brand is best for Texas heat?
For Central Texas heat, the single most useful number is the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient, which measures how much of the sun's heat energy passes through the glass. Lower is better. ENERGY STAR Version 7.0, in effect since 23 October 2023, requires 0.23 or below in the South-Central zone that covers Central Texas. Anlin publishes 0.20 to 0.22 for its SolarZone Elite glass, at or below that 0.23 ceiling. Note that Version 7.0 has two gates, not one — a window must meet the U-Factor limit of 0.28 as well.
