The frame is Anlin XTRU — Anlin’s proprietary Titanium Dioxide Infused Vinyl Extrusion, engineered for strength, durability and energy efficiency, with high temperature tolerance and low thermal expansion. It carries ASTM D4726 and AAMA 303-19, with air-tight fusion welded corners.

Marvin — fiberglass on the outside, real wood on the inside
Ultrex® fiberglass is Ultrex is Marvin's proprietary pultruded fiberglass. Thin strands of glass cable are saturated with compounded resins, pulled through a heated die, cut with diamond-edged blades, and finished with a proprietary acrylic coating three times thicker than other brands.
Ultrex is a thermoset material — cured and hardened into shape by an irreversible chemical reaction, the way concrete is.

The screen everybody asks about
Pella builds the screen into the window. It is there when the window is open and out of sight when it is closed, so what you look through is glass rather than mesh — and it is available across the vinyl and wood lines, backed on the wood line by a 10-year transferable limited warranty. If never looking at a screen again is the reason you are shopping, say so early. It is one of the few things that genuinely narrows the choice.
What each brand offers
No product names here on purpose. Every brand has its own trade name for the same idea, so a chart full of them tells you who reads catalogs, not which window to buy. If a brand offers something anywhere in the lines we sell, it is ticked.
Read a dash carefully. It means the option is not in what that brand publishes for the lines we sell — not that the factory cannot do it. If a dash is sitting on the one thing you want, ask us before you rule the brand out.

Questions we get asked
Can black windows be cooler than white ones?
With the right finish, color stops being the thing that decides it. An ordinary painted dark frame absorbs the sun's infrared heat; Anlin's ThermaCoat is made with pigments that reflect it, and Anlin's own claim is that it keeps the window cooler regardless of which color you choose. It exceeds AAMA and ASTM standards for heat reflectivity, so a black ThermaCoat frame is not the hot dark frame people remember from painted vinyl. The frame is a small part of the story either way — how warm the room gets is decided by the glass package, not by the color around it.
Which window brand is best for a Central Texas home?
It depends on the house, which is why we sell all three. Anlin is where we start for most Central Texas homes: this climate is decided by solar heat gain rather than winter cold, Anlin publishes a full glass table with solar heat gain down to 0.14, and the Double Lifetime Warranty covers parts, labor, freight and accidental glass breakage. Pella carries the widest range of materials of the three — wood, fiberglass and vinyl under one brand — and is the one to ask for when you want real wood inside, a screen that disappears when the window is shut, triple pane, or blinds sealed between the panes. Marvin is the fiberglass answer, with a wood interior if you want one, and it is the only one of the three that builds a corner window with no post between the panes.

What is the difference between vinyl, fiberglass and wood windows?
Vinyl windows perform extremely well in this climate if they are engineered correctly, which ours are. Fiberglass is stronger and hardly expands or contracts as the temperature swings, which is what you pay the premium for. Wood is chosen for how it looks from inside the room; clad wood puts a weather-resistant exterior on it so you are not maintaining bare wood in the Texas sun.
Which window brand has the best warranty — Pella, Marvin or Anlin?
They differ on three things: whether the labor to do the repair is included, what happens when you sell the house, and whether glass you break yourself is covered. Anlin covers parts, labor, freight and accidental glass breakage, and the whole thing runs again for the next owner. Pella's vinyl warranty covers non-glass parts for a limited lifetime while you own the home, 20 years on the glass seal, and 2 years of labor. Marvin transfers in full from the first day, with 20 years on the insulating glass. All three are set out side by side further down this page, and we will hand you the full documents before you sign anything.
Are Pella and Marvin windows more expensive than Anlin?
Usually, and the material is why. As a rule of thumb, vinyl is the least expensive option, with fiberglass and wood in the next tier up. But customizations and options sway a price in a big way — the glass package, special shapes, colors and hardware move a quote more than the material name does, so a heavily optioned vinyl job can get into the range of a stripped-down fiberglass or wood one.
